You'll be ready I know brother. I just wanted you to know we are praying and here for you. A lot of guys look up to you whether you like it or not and we want you around AC.

As has been mentioned countless times you truly are an inspiration Chuck. Just take the compliment . I know its hard for you Chief Warrant Officer Humble.

We are here in prayers and thoughts for you and actions if needed.

Now knowing all too well you don't prefer the talk to be focused on you here is a pic of some 'entertainment' I had a couple of weeks ago.

Don't be ridiculous, MPI inspections will be a thing of the past. By then we'll be discussing laser capability vs practicality through titanium barrels.

Ahh...just trying to be funny but I don't know. This may not be the best venue and we damn well better not lose our buddy.

Yep guess I am already sounding 'old time'. I think the venue is perfect! Have many stories that may make AC Chuck'le'! Like the time I shot myself when I was 15 with AC's favorite sidearm. A Colt 1911 which I still have to this day! May not seem funny but looking back it really is. May sound weird but it may also lighten the thread up a little. Figured he may enjoy that.

Whoa, time out. What is the story behind this?

Let's have that story now, AD.

OK. VIP3R and of course AC. This is a story only myself and my best friend (Rebel Rifle on here) knows so keep this between you and the NSA. I honestly am telling this for AC's amusement because it does nothing to put me in a good light.

When I was 15 and living with my grandparents (they raised me) I went out one day to shoot my pop's 1911. He had just bought it after coming home from World War 2 and the following occupation in 1946. I worshipped this thing. It is one of the reasons it took me so long to transition to the 9mm.

Anyway after shooting it I went to my room and decided to unload it. Yes I didn't clear it in the backyard. I was 15 and stupid. Well (this is quite embarrassing) while unloading it my hand went over the slide to pull the slide to the rear.

The lower right portion of my left hand was literally over the muzzle. In short when I went to pull the 1911's slide back to eject the last round somehow my idiotic trigger finger was right where it wasn't supposed to be. On the trigger. KABOOM.

At the time I wasn't really sure what had happened. My hand was bleeding but there was no pain. Actually there never was until hours later. I freaked b/c there was this hole in my hand. After running to the bathroom sink I rolled my hand over and discovered there was ANOTHER hole on the other side!

Here is the kicker and the reason why I kept it a secret for 20+ years. I never went to the emergency room. Never saw a doctor. My grandma was at the neighbor's house and pop was gone. No one heard it.

Believe it or not it is the truth. I stitched my own self up with a first aid kit Pop had in the bathroom and some sewing utensils grandma had in her bedroom. For weeks I told Pop and Grandma the bandage I wore was for a small cut from a knife. If they knew it had been from a .45 I would've never been allowed to use another firearm ever. That's why I hid what happened.

To this day I am still proud of how I took care of myself on that occassion. May seem odd but I like how I reacted in such an extreme situation. To this day I do have a slight impingement of motion with my left ring and pinky finger but considering what could've been.....I'll take it. Didn't mean to Hog the thread AC.

Wow, sorry to hear this, AC. Words are inadequate. It makes all of the other problems people are facing seem trivial in comparison.

    Jaxman7,

The way you summarized the story above, it sounded like you shot yourself with AC' personal favorite 1911 when you were 15.

I'm glad you explained what happened and that you survived with minor damage.

Thanks Ed. No big deal. Just a slightly amusing story.
