Be careful with that. Supposedly us Army guys don't know what to do with that liquidy stuff that is near sand. So says an old Marine buddy of mine.

    Normandy.

    Not a USMC op.

    The defense rests.

Fwiw good to hear things are going well AC and while this is a rather menial offer made by an unknown entity many states away should the need for more manpower arise at the time of your pending move I'd gladly lend a hand. I need to make a pilgrimage to your state to scope things out anyway. May as well do something helpful while I'm there.

How was the beach? I have it on reliable authority that empty beer bottles make for excellent turret and/or towers when building sand castles.

Apparently, when you are on the books at the Warrior Transition Battalion, you aren't supposed to drink alcohol. Who knew?

I am not really a beach dude by nature, but it was really great, actually. Stayed in a privately-owned home, which meant private beach for the most part, and that makes a tremendous difference. It was good to just get away with the family, and see something new for the week. I'd forgotten the value of an occasional change of scenery. Had no real Internet out there apart from the iPhone, either, which gave me a bit of a break from the boards. You have to really, really want to type something if it means cranking it out on a small virtual keyboard.

Back to dealing with some annoying swelling in the nose at the moment, but everything else is continues to improve inasmuch as I can tell. I realize that this thing is eventually going to kill me, but I'm incredibly grateful for every good -- and even better -- day until then. At the moment, it is probably harder to watch the Vikings' performance in the preseason than it is to have terminal cancer. lol

No real news on the move front. Still happening. Still going to suck. Still about 30 days from today. Still appreciate the many long-distance offers of support from far and wide, as well, but I would feel pretty guilty if anyone actually tried to show up for a crappy move party. I'll be able to get it done with local assets guys, really.

Don't want to betray any trusts, either, but for those of you inclined to pray, you might want to remember our friend Sam this week, as his father passed (peacefully) over the weekend. He's bearing up well, but losing one's dad has got to be one of the tougher of life's burdens to bear.

Great to hear about your nice time, few things can match the splendor of a home right on the beach. Unless a hurricane is bearing down on the area that is...

**Sam my sincerest condolences. Even though my dad and I aren't always great friends I still dread the day and like anyone who cares about their father I can imagine how you must feel. God bless my friend.
