    10-second update:

Had an MRI appointment this morning at 0430 hours over on post. Only in the Army, right? Could certainly have done without the early wake-up, but keeping tabs on the imagery is about the only medical option available at the moment, so I'm happy to feel well enough to go and do it.

Here's to hoping for a good result.

If you spend much time around the guys who really, really know their craft, and who truly live this stuff, you tend to find that they are very soft-spoken and modest -- almost to the extreme. To my mind, that is a model worthy of emulation

Tripler AMC in Hawaii has 24/7 MRI appointments.

I remember going in at 0130 and falling asleep (despite it being insanely loud) and having to re-do the entire appointment because I was twitching.

    Glad to hear the update.

Thank-you for the update Chief. As to why a 4:30am appointment was needed, well I suppose that machine is so heavily booked it can't be helped. Which of course would make one ask why the Army simply doesn't buy one or two more, but I guess too much went to aid nations either hostile or indifferent to America again.

Prayers for the only acceptable result. Please keep us posted.

Because the scans have to be evaluated and signed-off on by a doctor/pathologist with special training, it usually takes about five business days to get returns out of the radiology department. From there, the CD goes to my actual care provider/physician in town, who will presumably look them over and see whatever it is that he wants to see. At the moment, he seems to be most interested in the state of affairs around my carotid, as that is the part of this that will kill me the swiftest, per his earlier assessments. The rest is just going to make life more of a challenge over time. I nod up and down and let it all blow past me for the most part.

It really makes no practical difference, since I've no real treatment options available at the moment. The idea is just to monitor the "process," so we can know what, if anything, has changed over the past few months. Keeping tabs -- but nothing likely to delivery any epiphanies or new options.

I'm fine with that, obviously. Just glad they have a way of looking at what they need to see without resorting to cutting -- even if the MRI appointments are scheduled for some pretty inconvenient hours. I'm completely dead on my feet today. lol

Bring your scans to the next Stammtisch. I'm sure that after a few beer's we could come up with all sorts of cool diagnosis Just trying to keep things light.

Sounds good, Dr. D. I'm sure you can come up with something at least as useful as most of what I've been told thus far.

No need for the disclaimer, brother -- you know I am anything but up-tight about this stuff. God has a plan. That is more than good enough for me.

A surprising level of comfort can be obtained from such a belief.
