I like the idea of putting faces to the name. This is me and my 7 year old daughter at the range. She was 6 at the time.

Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe

I'm definitely finding this effort signficant on a personal level, though it occurs to me that the real power of this lies with the sense of community that we're building as a result. That is something that I would hope to see carried on long after I am gone, as I think there is considerable goodness in being able to gain a quick glimpse into each other's worlds like this. Now, instead of simply seeing a name or an avatar, we can have some (admittedly limited) sense as to who exactly is behind it. I find that to be a very good thing.

Thanks so much for doing this.

Agreed Chuck. Maybe we should start a "who we are" pic thread.

These are some of the most recent I have. I'll have to upload more of the family when I'm on the computer again instead of the iPad.

My wife Deanne and our daughter Colette a couple years ago

My daughter Colette when she was 4, about 2.5 years before the pic of her shooting.

My son Jonathan and I a couple hours after he was born. August 12th, 2009.

And one that's a little more clear of me.

You know that I am a man of few words on paper so to speak.
But I can post pics that mean a lot to me and to you.

My life is better for having you in it brother thanks.

    Army Chief

I have greatly enjoyed reading your posts over the last many years -- especially talking about hunting in Germany and things like that. And I look forward to your further musings.

I have been reading this thread with interest, but have not written anything up to now as I have struggled with what to say. I am not much with words when it comes to people struggling with severe illness.

I am praying for you and your family, that you may be comforted, and that they may be comforted in these trying times. And for your recovery and better health, if possible.

Here are two pics. The low-res one I just snapped with an older web cam in my home office. The other is, I think, a self portrait with my phone this past August.

    Good luck and God Bless!

A positive outlook and consistent support can be a miracle in and of itself. I haven't been to church in years, but I stopped by after work two days ago and lit a candle for you and your family. It's strange how much I've thought about your situation as of late, being I've never met you, but I don't think it's a bad thing. God bless you and your family AC, and keep fighting the good fight!

Magpul class, not a great pic of my ugly mug, but I think it's the best pic ever taken of me. Besides, his camera was worth more than all of my gear!

I'm a goof ball most of the time, my baby (Ezri) is too, apparently. She thought this would be a fun place to sit while I watched TV and wouldn't get off when I tried to get up off the couch.
Time flies when you throw your watch.

Surely at the very least I now may need to think a bit more carefully about the content of a post if it conflicts with another's viewpoint.

I can tell you that many times over the years I have written things here, perhaps due to spontaneous or heartfelt reaction, and then summarized that you could have done a better job at conveying the point.

You see we are all educateable if we allow ourselves to be. And with that I am unashamed to say that both you and the now reclusive Gutshot John (before he started the pattern of elongated, sensless bickering )have been the most influential speakers here to me personally.

Not to diminish the other intelligent and insightful folks we consider friends, because there are many of them and all are worthy. But it does warrant mention and our common cause also matters a great deal.

Edit: I'd like to also offer a prayer for LL's father.
