No, the price has nothing to do with it.

The fact is that I trust Colt, and don't trust many others besides Colt, with what experience I have. I can't recommend many others, simply because I don't have enough experience with the manufacturer, or, I have had issues with them.

I haven't personally had this experience, but there is a ton of information on this board about RRA lowers being out of spec.

Ok, there is a large difference between that, and what I got out of your other comment of, "There is no reason in this day and age to get anything other than a Colt lower"

There are plenty of high quality receivers out there, no reason to pay double the price unless you just like the Colt rollmark, and that is fine as well.
    Stick

    I keep hearing this, but....

For some reason, I always wind up regretting it when I end up with anything other than Colt, it seems...

Until Colt ceases to be the rifle that all others are measured by, I'm going with Colt.

I've wasted enough of my hard-earned money on stuff that I regretted, and I don't want to go through all of that again....

My LGS has a few of these lowers in the parts case for like $150....these lowers are crap and I'm not surprised they sell them. According to them; Colt, you're paying for the name and their rack of Bushmasters, DPMS'S, Rock Rivers are the best....what a joke

I have been rolling with a Bushmaster lower on my BCM middy upper for years. None of the lower internals are Bushy, but the lower its self is 100% good to go. It is in spec, like every other Bushy lower I have ever seen, and this gun is my duty carbine. It has fired thousands of rounds and I trust it 100%. Nothing wrong with a Bushy lower. I will second the earlier comments about avoiding the Olympic Arms cast lowers as I have put together two for friends and they were both horribly finished and took tweaking to make them work.

There are so many different brands that are gtg in this day and age that you are just throwing money away by buying a Colt lower. Are cast Olympic receivers even an option anymore?

Can you give us a few examples so we can can avoid these lowers that you regretted buying?
