I've used Dewey Parker Hale style jags for years. Since you wrap the patch around the jag, they are much more tolerant of different size patches than traditional jags. $5 at Brownells

    YMMV

Most people aren't responding because you're making it more difficult than it needs to be.

In an effort to be helpful, I'll recommend these. They are heavy cotton flannel & work very well. I use Tipton jags/brushes with these & have had good results but, like alot of other guys here, I usually use a boresnake.

The .22-.270 patches work well in an AR but, if you have any rimfire .22's they are tight, so I use the .17 patches.

    There you go, direct answer.

I like the Otis kit. Just make sure you buy the *SMALL* patches!

I tried a few brands and sizes with poor results before trying the Sinclair 1-1/8" patches. With a Sinclair or Dewey .22 jag, these patches are plenty tight without being excessively so. Some so-called ".223" patches at 1-1/4" were damn near jamming in the bore. Also helped to get a good guide - I use the JP.

Uh, yeah. I use either an Otis kit with the Otis patches or a Patchworm with 1" square patches (whatever Walmart sells - probably Hoppes basic). Both work great.

I know you said you wouldn't cut patches, but that's what I do. Old t shirts, my kids old clothes that are worn out, etc.

USGI 5.56 patches in bulk are small $$ from, well, anywhere.

This thread is getting ridiculous. Get the milspec patches at Brownells, sku 546-100-223MB, or the other two brands I mentioned that are the same size.

If it still doesn't fit get a new jag.

Can't imagine there's much else to be said.
