How do you store your pistols?

What is the best way to store a pistol if you have a rifle safe? Sitting on the inside floor in the plastic boxes they came in? Or some other way?

I leave them loaded in rows on the top shelf.

I put them unloaded in socks on the top shelf. The socks breath and keep everything from banging on each other. They're also basically free when you buy new socks for your feet.

I have pegboard on the inside of the front door of my safe so I hang them there, unloaded, by the triggerguard.

My carry gun just lays on a shelf when I'm not wearing it.

I store my pistols unloaded and uncased on the shelves of my safe and are easily accessable. My carry pistol is loaded and holstered or on my nightstand when I sleep. Loaded magazines are always close by, but not stored with the guns in the safe.

Been storing mine in zero haliburton aluminum cases for nearly 20 years, these are then stored in the safe for security. No need to load up a range bag, just grab a case and head for the range. Ethafoam inserts do not retain moisture and can be routed out to conform to the guns shape.

I guess the safe I got is a bit small for what I've got

I've got 2 more long guns since that pic was taken, and 4 more pistols

Be careful about storing firearms in cases. The cheap foam and/or plastic cases can hold in moisture and result in corrosion.
