I was keeping my handguns in their cases at the bottom of the safe. I have a very small 10 gun safe, things are getting tight already. I may end up getting a second safe or come up with another idea.
I know a lot of folks say don't store ammo and guns in the same place, but really... If they can break into my home, AND crack my safe, how hard is it gonna be for them to get into an ammo locker? My safe is to keep my KIDS out, and to slow down the non-professional burgler.
I only want to have to open one locked door during a home invasion/ SHTF type of situation, so I keep the handguns loaded, the sub-gun loaded and a couple of loaded AR mags right next to the HD AR. I don't keep the non-tactical rifles loaded, though, seems pointless.
