I would go with the S&W, when I was shopping for a new AR, i looked at all three, and the S&W was my final choice before I took the plunge and spent the extra money for a Colt. What's nice, is you can get the S&W M&P for around $900 - $1100 and comes with factory rails, not to mention the finish on it looked better as apposed to the Bushy and Stags.

As I did, and other's here would advise, (As we are a bunch of Colt lover's) at least take a look at Colt's 6920 or 6721 rifles, you will pay about $300 more but you would be happier as I was in the long run. There are a few reasons not just for name. Colt uses the 1/7 twist on thier barrels, allows for ALL ammo even the 75 grain military stuff. And they properly stake thier carriers. Better Re-Sale value if you decide to sell it in the future.

    Just my .02 cents.

Sir, we are surrounded on all sides ! Good, now we can attack in all directions...

A couple guys mentioned the ADS, which I was looking at as well. Maybe Grant can compare the S&W 15 & ADS. How bout it Grant? Ony thing is for mee the quad rails on the 15T is a bit of a waste. All I want is a vertical grip and they make an add-on rail for that, flip-up sights and a flat top to mount a red dot or small variable power scope on. Maybe a laser sometime in the future, maybe not. That why I'm looking at Stag & ADS, plus the m4 feed ramp. I decided against the Bushmaster. On the vertical grip mount, such as a MI, some guys say they're junk, others like them. I'm not going to play Tommy Tactical, I'm too old for that.

How about it, Grant, how do you compare the S&W to the ADS?

Both weapons are great IMHO. So it is really a win/win for the consumer. Here are some of the major differences:

    S&W pluses:

    1. LMT BCG
    2. Troy Irons (on certain models)
    3. Customer service
    4. Cost (especially with the $100 mail rebate)

    ADS pluses:

    1. 4150 barrel steel
    2. M4 barrel extension & M4 upper receiver
    3. 1/7 twist
    4. Robar finish

I see Josiah's post didn't last long enough for me to get to reply to it...

Just for the record, in case he's wondering why his post went "poof"...Smith & Wesson M&P 15's are no longer made by Stag. I'm not bashing Stag, but I looked at several Stag rifles while I was shopping for an AR...I bought a S&W because the fit and finish was better, and the bolt carrier seemed a lot smoother functioning, the Stag sounded rough when I slid the bolt carrier back and forth...the S&W wasn't quite as smooth as silk, but far smoother than the Stags, Bushy's, RRA's, and Armalites. Does that really matter?...hell I don't know...but it sure seemed like a better fit to me.

Thanks for all the input, fellas. I did alot of "looking" last night. Have narrowed it down to S&W & Stag. In the Smith, either 15T or X, Stag is 2T or 3. The ADS interests me alot, but I'll save it for another time perhaps. I've got some questions for both companies, then I'll decide. I believe Stag has a lifetime warranty & S&W is one year.
I am wondering about the balance of the 15T & 27 with the quad rail system on the front end. Does it feel front-end heavy to you guys that have handled them?

The ADS rifle is a superior weapon to the Stag IMHO. I would not take that on out of the mix.

You would need to buy your optics separately, as well. But you could get a 1:7 twist barrel and a free bolt carrier upgrade to the M16 bolt.

Also, you won't get a free mag, but since 44mag.com is having a sale on D&H 30-round mags (last I saw), you could probably talk CMMG into selling you a mag (or two) for the same price as 44mag.com. It's worth a shot, so to speak.
I don't think he asked about CMMG. when Stag and the others offer mag-s and case why would you pay more and get less?
