in the last five years ..have any of you had an m4 aimpoint fail ?
I'm thinking of building a optics only carbine....no irons...just a m4 aimpoint.
oh....and this will be used as a simple farm pickup truck weapon.

i started this life with nothing.....kept most of it.
Been using Aimpoints since 2003. Now have six.
An M4S, a T1, and an M2 purchased new, and three other M2s purchased used.
The six are on 5.56mm uppers that together have over ten thousand rounds fired over the past nine years, mostly M193.
Not one has failed, ever. Needless to say, very highly recommended.
thanks... i was justlooking at the eight year battery life..
and thought ? why even have irons or buis ?
i think my ideals of kiss...have evolved to a red dot.

Had an H-1 that the brightness knob was so loose it would spin under recoil, shutting the dot off after about 5 rounds. That's about it out of 4 micros and a Comp M4s.

Flip up BUIS really take up so little room its kinda hard for me to understand leaving them off of anything but a gaming rifle.
Aimpoint are incredibly reliable, however Mr. Murphy loves to show up when you're least prepared.

Fail? No. Fog up? Yes.

Not what I would call a failure but from my first Aimpoint I have found that a decent mount is a must, with the original factory mount with my M2 I was constantly having to rezero the aimpoint as the zero would wander while my irons were zeroed and not touched for several years. Switched to a better mount, an A.R.M.S. at the time and that issue vanished. Am currently saving up for Larue mounts after playing with several of them and seeing the preform and return to zero I have been rather impressed. Test the optic and make sure the mount is solid then I think you should be fine. Personally prefer to have some sort of back up sights on my rifles, if given the option, but that i neither here nor there and can be discussed on another thread.
