    Colt M16A1 rifle info

here in Italy it's not legal to own a MG but it's OK to permanently convert one to semiauto

an Importer will have some M16A1 available soon in brand new conditions and I'm looking for more info about them.
the only pics I have comes from the Importer's website but I'm going to visit him ASAP

    - is this a mod.613? the only 613 I saw a few years ago was clearly marked "mod.613" above the caliber...

    - how old are these based on the SN range?

    - where do they come from? Police Dept? South America? Asia?

    - what markings/details should I look for to be sure all parts are factory (bolt, barrel, receiver, etc)?

    TIA

Wow... It pains me to think that M16's getting neutered. Congrats on the Colt though. Do you get to keep the FCG? How is the conversion done?

a couple of years ago the same company imported some abused 613 from Malaysia...
the rear of the BCG was milled off, FCG was not replaced but modified: rear of the hammer was cut off, auto sear replaced by a permanent block, a roll pin added near the pistol grip to prevent the selector from moving in the auto position.
they also added a shit load of ugly markings and a new SN
you can see some pics HERE

I really hope they will make a cleaner job with these M16s because of the like NIB conditions. that's why I want to visit the importer once they're available.

then it's better if I dont tell you about those neutered Colt mod.01

    MSRP is 1800ish Euro

to give you an idea of AR prices here: a Norinco M4 is under 900E, Bushy/Oly about 2100E, POF and HK MR223 about 2900E.
I've paid my Colt MT 2200euro in 2008.

I agree, it's a shame for such a nice weapon to be converted but AFAIK Italy is the only country that allows this kind of conversion, we cant assemble our guns ence they cant be sold as a kit... it's better than a total destruction isn't it?

Don't know if they are importable or available, but NoDakSpud makes semi-auto lowers of correct config for older ARs.
If using one of their lowers simplifies your problem, then it is worth thinking about and investigating. One of their lowers made it possible for me to build an A1 clone.
    Wow, what a minty specimen!
    Enjoy your rifle.
