Get a bcm 14.5" middy and you'll never think about a cock river. I know someone with one and it is picky on ammo. A friends bushmaster ran fine with same rounds.

I sense a closed thread about to occur.
OP - Walmart has Colt 6920s for around the price of a RRA. Guaranteed to run. I hope you are happy with what you choose.

This is the type of stupidity that keeps these sub par companies buildings shit. So you have put one range trip worth of rounds through the lot, and that makes them all great. Hundreds of rounds is one trip to the range.
If you buy your AR for shtf it needs to work with minimal upkeep at any given time. That is the worst situation to have one of the shit AR's you mentioned with the exception being the colt.

Tight fit between upper and lower is also of low importance.
Fit and finish does matter. Both are specified in the blueprint and are critical to the operation of the rifle and it's resistance to the elements and wear.
I'll give you that most folks don't know what fit & finish really means. Most take to mean that parts are lovingly polished, steels have a deep, rich blue or maybe case hardening and the wood is hand rubbed with linseed oil until the warmth of the wood comes out. The reality is that an AR with good fit and finish is built to specification and maybe the metal finish is finer than the maximum allowable surface roughness and the parts have the correct anodizing, parkerizing and/or chrome plating applied

get a middy because longer sight radius, less recoil, and more rail space
Good point, i was referring mostly to when people are talking about play between upper and lower receivers, and also the color of the anodizing matching. Fit as in fit of parts in relation to each other and finish of proper heat treatments and finishes are very important as you stated.
