Terrible barrels, terrible quality control, terribly cheap materials being used, gimmicky snake oil accessories. They are junk.
WOW, I have heard many opinions on the quality of RRA products or lack there of. But tell us what you really think. LOL

"Real" mil-spec tubes are built from hammer forged 7075-T6 aluminum. You can buy mil-spec dimension tubes on Ebay for like $10 but they are junk and not built to proper mil-spec. Commercial tubes meanwhile are made using 6061 aluminum alloy and have higher failure rates.

Read this thread for various pieces of info on RE's:

Thanks for your reply & link to that thread. I'm sure I've seen it before, just didn't remember! & Thanks for providing info with regard to materials. I'm not "limiting" myself to anything. I have the lower & will use it when my upper (all BCM & DD) is assembled & will change parts as necessary or as $ allow based on my use.
Oh, & I'm reading, or re-reading perhaps, that thread right now.

I have been interested in & reading & researching ARs for about the last 8-9 yrs using this site & other sources & feel I'm fairly well-read on the platform. I just don't recall seeing any solid argument against comm. spec REs other than OD that wasn't bundled with all the other problems with guns that also have comm. spec REs. Note I said "recall"!! I'm by no means old, but I sure can't seem to remember shit these days!!
Disclaimer: I do have a RRA lower assembly & am by no means trying to defend RRA. It was purchased in the not so distant past when it was available & I, like many others, had concerns about availability. I am well aware of it's shortcomings.
The threads on a milspec RE are cold rolled...the threads on a commercial are cut. The threads on a mil spec RE are MUCH stronger.

    There's your reason.
