    Israeli Orlite 30rd AR Magazines.

Anyone use or have used Israeli Orlite 30rd AR Magazines and how did they function and wear over the long run?

Was over at a friends house to buy some M-193 he wanted to sell before relocating to Canada for a new job and he threw in 25 Israeli Orlite 30rd AR magazines which appeared brand new.

I never bothered with Orlites before and was wondering if they are total trash or something worth playing with.

Brittle with crap followers. Back in the '80s they were one of two alternatives to G.I. Mags, these days there are better, cheaper alternatives. Hell, the Israelis don't even use them anymore.

Years ago I used them but had issues with feed lips breaking. I stopped using them when Brownell's came out with their mags. I would use them sparingly and never keep them loaded.

I have a few, use them for the range. I would not trust them for anything other than the range because of the issues that others have talked about. I got them for about $6-7 a piece so if they fail, in the trash they go.

    They break easy.

I'd sell them and use the funds for either GI or Mag Pul.

I bought five new at a show after the AWB died for $5 a pop NIW, still had the Made in Israel sticker on them. As posted above the feed lips are shit, very brittle. There is a reason why the IDF sold them all surplus to us . . .

They would be my least favorite mags. I have several that I bought during the ban, I wouldn't use them if there was a choice. Since you have 25 I would look at sending them to a ban state. Say $10 a piece.

I bought some back before the '94 ban. Some worked and some had the feed lips at the top spread apart too far.

There's a number at the bottom left on the left side of the magazine. There was a definite coorelation between the number and the reliability of the magazine. If I remember correctly, any number in the teens or below coorelated with a bad magazine. Any number mid twenties and above worked. Of course those numbers may have also coorelated with how used the magazines were, but that's just my observation.

The magazines that came with caps had higher numbers and were also new. Some magazines had the rib on the side filed off. The ones with the ribs on the side were hit or miss on being able to fully seat in a magazine well.
