Yes, the 2008 has better internal welding. The M4-2000 though has better baffles. If one were to upgrade I would want to go to an M4-2000.
OK....another question based on the recommendation that as long as you buy from one of the major players you're safe....in that regard I had thought that I may as well go for the M4-1000 as it as the lowest price (and I'm fully aware that you get what you pay for). Is the recommendation to go for the M4-2000 because of superior construction (which I would assume means longer life). If so does it make much of a difference is all planned use would be semi only and no full auto.
Thanks.

Semi vs. Full auto isn't black and white.
High volumes of semi auto fire can be much harder on a can than limited bursts of full auto fire.
That said. The M4-1000 can probably handle anything you throw at it.

The M4-1000 has an Inconel blast baffle. The M4-2000 has all Inconel baffles and end cap. Also the M4-2000 is quieter.
That being said, the M4-1000 is one of the very best silencers you can buy at any price. It is a lot better than many $900 silencers and is only modest when compared to the M4-2000 or SPR/M4.

The M42k8 is lighter, shorter, quieter and has a better mount and finish. Only you can decide if those attributes are worth the extra $300 or not. Personally I'd go with the 2k8. In fact, this thread has me poking around and thinking of getting one right now. I'd like one in 6.8 as well, so you bastards have now potentially cost me $2k!![]()
You know you wanna Rob! Give me a call about the 6.8 can.

Fully circumferential welding applies only to the tube, not the baffles. I am 99% sure I just read this in an explanation on ST.
Nevermind. Just read the rest of thread. This won't be the case anymore it seems.
I believe this is correct and IIRC, I just read Robert's explanation for this.
I do think the 1k is the best deal as well. There is also the YHM at or near that price but it may be much heavier in the SS variety...
I'm just curious why everyone stopped talking about the OPS model? Too much money I suppose? It does rate at the top of the list in shortest added length, does it not? I'm not a fan of all the extra mounting parts when wanting to use it on multiple rifles but those that dedicate them to a single rifle seem to really like them.
ETA: Anyway, yeah. I'd look for a dealer who has the M4-1k in stock- Bookhound maybe?
