The tines on the FH lock up to the internal dimensions of the HALO. Making rotation impossible. Thus, there is a repeatable way to install the can everytime so your can's POA/POI remains consistent.

Recently went to a shoot and had AAC, YHM and OPS Inc 5.56 cans, couldn't tell a difference between any of them except for the OPS Inc (M4S can). My collar has never had a problem loosening or having to get it off after I needed it to. As always, YMMV.
Thank you, it was the Vortex flash hider I was trying to remember, not the Predator.

    From Gemtech's FAQ:

The 2010 models of HALO (identified from earlier models by a rear closer that has an aggressive “golfball” griptexture and four internal alignment teeth that can be seen down inside the female mount) also fit the Smith Enterprises VORTEX flash hiders, which also adds the benefit of four indexable locking points.

That's absolutely amazing. I had no idea.

Vortex it is! Now just to figure out if I should grab an A3 or A2.

    Doesn't everyone do that?
No, I don't clean out the rear mounting area after every time I use it. Nowhere near every time. I don't clean my firearms after ever use either.

    Gotcha.

I'm going to assume you understand that a simple wipe out of that area after shooting would solve any removal problems the next time around and choose not to for whatever reason.

You see it's not, 'the next time' usually. It's multiple times. Even then, it's not all that difficult to take off (but can take a minute). When that happens, I give a scrub-a-dub.

Gotcha. I figured it was a "not a big deal" decision.

Between wanting an SBR that I can run with and without the suppressor and really liking the looks of the new BCM comp, a HALO is looking like the best option. Glad to hear POA/POI shifts are minimal as long as its lined up the same every time.
