Per the temperature issues with such gas-length systems... I'm curious if anybody has tested their [non-DPMS] rifles in warmer states. Would one find benefits in warmer regions with the rifle length gas on a 16" barrel?
We do it all the time here in central FL. Been doing 1500 round 3 day courses, 3-4 times a year for the past 7 years, shooting mostly Wolf, Brown Bear and occasionally PMC or IMI193. The last VTAC Street Fighter Course, I shot over 1800 rounds of PMC with a DD MK-18.

I think he was being sarcastic, or at least I hope so.

    AR15smith,

I'm just curious, because it occurs to me that you would have had to do a search on DPMS Tac4's in order to find this thread. Why resurrect a discussion that ended 8 months ago, that the OP, and others that participated, forgot about a long time ago?

    Best,

    Dave

Good question. The DPMS Tac must have been a huge flop, I haven't seen or heard anything about the gun since that article over 8 months ago.
I imagine he purchased one, then hit the internet to see how well others liked theirs, come to find out he's the only one in the world that owns one.

Just a courtesy FYI. DPMS makes pieces of shit. Please do not come here with the DPMS rules and we are fanboys nonsense. If that's your intent then go to TOS.

DPMS does tons of advertising, while watching Guns and Ammo TV to TAC-TV you will see ads for BCM, DD, and DPMS. Somtimes all in one commercial break. My guess, it's the reason that one would pick a DPMS. Side by side advertising causes most to associate one with the other.

I'm a victim of BM (my brother called them Bowel Movement), a DPMS sister company. My first AR along with my brother's were constantly malfunctioning BMs. This was before we had the net so little info was available, we just didn't know any damn better. They were so bad that I traded mine for a Mini-14 and my brother traded for an AK. Both worked well, they just weren't very accurate. We didn't try AR's again for a long time.

Last year I got a Palmetto State FN barreled 20" rifle after doing some research. After 2700 rounds I still haven't had a failure, big difference from the BM. Is PSA the best? NO, but they are the lowest I would go. My next will probably be a BCM or Noveske. Besides, why would you want to give money to a company that didn't want to stand by us when our rights were threatened? Freedom group is as dead to me as cheaper than dirt and dick's (appropriately named)!

Is it bad that I enjoy when guys get butt hurt when someone tells them they bought a sub-par rifle and they curse us and whine trying to justify their purchase. DPMS sucks ass and always will. Try to find a sucker to buy it then use those funds toward a purchase of a BCM, Colt, or other well known manufacturer with good credentials.
It would've been great if this guy would have took the advise given and hung around to learn more about this great platform. Instead he results to cursing the entire membership.
