I would like to know where you are acquiring your statistics. The only data I could find was from the ATF, and their document, released as of 01/07/2013, only addresses rifles manufactured in 2011 (see ATF Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Export Report 2011).

Of course, one could assume that quantity equals quality, but that is a big assumption that I am not willing to make. There is a reason DPMS and others sell at a particular price point, which, in turn, allows them to sell the quantity of rifles that they do. Additionally, one must factor in marketing and the perception that it builds among consumers. Again, quantity sold does not always equal high quality.

And what does sales #'s matter?
Don't care about volume of sales, but do care about reputation and quality

You've had your fun, now it's time to move along. I'm sorry not everyone loves, enjoys, appreciates, and/or respects your $1200 investment.

This is not an argument you want to engage in on this site. Maybe on TOS , but not here.

... Who cares? How many of the people that buy DPMS actually shoot them compared to BCM owners? I would be more interested in that quality of the rifles produced vs. quantity

I'm not referring to midlengths. This rifle follows the same principle of design behind the KAC SR15 and Noveske intermediate gas systems, which are in between the midlength and rifle length. KAC uses their SR25 gas tube and Noveske uses one produced for them by Vltor. They are not common parts. Due to the reduced availability of these intermediate gas tubes and their higher cost when compared to the standard tubes, I believe that DPMS took a shortcut by using the readily available rifle length tubes in an attempt to mimic the performance of the KAC & Noveske intermediate systems. The problem with this is that they have likely reduced dwell time to the point that it could seriously affect reliability depending on ammo selection and environmental factors. I state this because I own a 17" rifle gassed Noveske barrel and it is sensitive to weaker ammo. Shortening the barrel to 16" & further reducing dwell time would only exacerbate the issue.

This is definitely not a place to necro-post a thread and then start being argumentative with other members. I would take some time and read this forum and understand its culture first instead of placing all of your posts in this thread and not adding any value...

It's pretty easy to sell that many guns when you sacrifice component & build quality to meet production & profitability goals.
