    $2700 in shipping.

We had an M16 break on us a few weeks ago so I requisitioned a new one and it was delivered last Friday. As I was going over the paper work today to file it away I saw the shipping charges $2720.90. I could not believe what I was seeing. It thought it must be wrong, how could it cost that much, after all it was only going from Indiana to Connecticut. But sure enough as I studied the bill of lading I came to realize that it did indeed cost 2700 bucks to ship it.
At first I laughed at the idea that they would spend that much, but the more I thought about it the more disgusted I became. How in the world could they justify paying that much in shipping a $400 weapon.

The Navy will not allow us to do any work on our weapons above organizational level and so it must to be shipped to Crane Ind. So instead of letting us fix them they would rather spend thousands of dollars in shipping. The more I think about it the more pissed off I get. No wonder we are Trillions in debt.

Oh BTW the broken part that needed replacement was…

An 89 cent extractor spring. I shit you not.

    eh... sounds about right

Kinda like when I see a contracted cleaning company walk out of the Navy EOD School when there are "injured" soldiers, sailors and marines walking around while out of training

If we could cut out this type of waste in our govt., we would not need to raise taxes on one soul....would we?

This is what happens when your govt. is run by ex lawyers, college professors, community activists and others that have never run their own business.

    ...God help us

More government oversight is the answer to this!

Yeah, but how do you ask people that have never had to balance the company checkbook to keep tabs on nonsense like this?

We need to clear out the incompetents in govt and install those that have been watching the purse strings in the private sector.

That happens and I can guarantee you that this kind of crap would come to a screeching halt.

Shit.. they could have hired a midget to escort it to the airport, check it on a flight, fly with the weapon, pay hotel accomodations and return travel for less than that.

The government charges us for that too.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
