Constructor is also adamant that, in the case of salt bath nitriding, some of the nitriding salts will remain in the barrel/extension threads and cause corrosion. I believe this would not be an issue with plasma nitriding.

I'd have to find my invoice, IIRC my 16" custom Noveske barrel was spec'd at 1.4646.

To date, I have never had a single problem with any gun I have done it too (and I probably shoot more than 90% of AR owners). On top of that, when is the last time you heard of a "failure to extract" problem with Noveske AR's???

I understand the point you are trying to make, but you don't know what you are talking about and are making assumptions that hold no water.

So is the mil spec tolerances inherently inaccurate or unreliable? I don't think so, so i will stand by my statement, and say it holds plenty of water. I did not say that tightening down on the tolerance would make it FTE but COULD cause a problem, possibly with fouling. Either way is fine, but I would rather stay with in milspec myself.

Neither. They are just on the generous side.

You can have any opinion you like, but you really don't have any experience to back it up.

Tight Tolerances are always good. You are confusing Clearance with Tolerance.

My brother saw Deliverance and bought a Bow. I saw Deliverance and bought an AR-15.

I thought about this a little more yesterday and came up with a better way to explain it. The Military says that 4MOA is acceptable accuracy at 100yds. Raise your hand if you want to limit yourself to this accuracy threshold.
