    And now you're older

Any plan to shoot it 'til it breaks?

Heck no. I may sell the thing in the current crazy market. I may be down to my J-frame by the end.

Why would you do that? Dumb or a lie.

This pistol should be a regular in the colt catalog. I love it.

Greg, nice Colt Bud. I have to agree, I wouldnt buy one of the 1911's off the internet, and want to look at the slide to frame fit and beavertail etc. I have seen more Slide to frame fits that just suck. I want them to be perfectly flush at all angles, very rare to find anymore. I have an old TRP, the fitting is like my NH. I found an MC operator after looking and looking and looking and finally found one of those.

I did find a Colt rail gun with nice fittings and bought it. It has run great. Only unusual thing is the Spring seems so light, but it functions great. Been meaning to try a replacement spring. I put an Old school Gold bead on my Colt and blacked out rear and it pops to the old eyes well. I do love FO sights though. I bought a Marlin 336 a while back (no idea why) and just got it back with action job and fiber optic sight, freakin love it.

Now help a brother out, explain better how you are flaring the FO sights to keep them from falling out. I understand the end result perfectly, but how do I get there? Drill Bit?

    Colt CC

Last month I bought a new Colt Concealed Carry which did not have the sharp edges. Disassembly before firing revealed a rough extractor with burrs--a problem easily corrected. One misfeed occurred with a factory supplied 8 shot mag, which then was discarded, because I've had poor luck with these. I'm not yet sold on the f-optic front sight but can easily replace it with the correct post front sight from Dawson Precision. I really like this 1911.

Just picked one up today, however due to the insane backlog here in Colorado, they won't be able to clear me for 8-10 days.

It was between this and an HK45C. I know, completely different guns. My girl was the deciding factor, she dug the 1911 way more so we went with it.

Do you happen to know which front sight that would be? I think I am going to go ahead and order this now and swap it when I get the pistol in my hands.

I think a few minor cosmetic upgrades, 25lpi checkering, and graphite black cerakote it will be done.

Finally got a hold of my CCG and had a chance to dry and live fire a number of rounds. Overall I am impressed with this gun. I do have a few gripes though. I can see there is work I already want.

Here are some of my observations out of the box.

    • The TS fit is garbage. It over travels when you disengage the safety, and looks like crap. I am not a fan of the serrations on the bottom of it.
    • The slide stop is also poorly fitted. I use a 10-8 armorers tool to get it out and in. I cannot remove it by hand.
    • The magazine catch doesn't play nice with WIlson 47Ds which stinks. I am thinking of replacing it with a non-MIM part anyway.
    • This gun has some extremely sharp edges, way worse than the Springfield I used to own. A dehorn is a must on this gun.
    • The magazine well bevel is a joke.
    • MIM Parts:
      1. Thumb Safety
      2. Slide Stop
      3. Mag catch
      4. Grip Safety
      5. Sear
      6. Disconnector
      7. Series 80 Crap

    The Good Stuff:

    • This is a beautiful, yet very functional piece. The blueing is just beautiful, and the slim grips are very sexy on the blue.
    • The slide to frame fit, as well as the bushing fit are amazing. The gun is very tight, and feels great.
    • The factory undercut is outstanding, and I like the grip safety. I can get a very high hold on the pistol.
    • The trigger is awesome, even by 1911 standards.
    • The pistol came with 2 blued Colt 8-round flat baseplate mags. I love the flush fit, but I don't have much experience with these mags. So far I have seen no malfunctions.
    • The widecut Novak rear sight is really nice. I do think I am going to ditch the FO front for a Dawson tritium sight, but the sight picture is really nice.

Colt says MIM parts are: Magazine Catch, Mag Catch Lock, Sear, Disconnector YMMV
