Colt Light Rifle--best way to put irons on it?

    Hey guys,

I have a Colt Light Rifle that I am thinking about turning into a General Purpose Rifle/Money waster. I like the fact that it is a lightweight gun in a caliber that is pretty universal in the USA. The only thing I cannot stand is any gun without iron sights.

    What are my options.

Do I have to go with some $500 custom soldered on nightmare that costs more than the gun?

I don't need peeps. Just some basic reserve sights so that the gun isn't a tent pole if I drop it on the scope.

I have been quite please with the Daniel Defense fixed front and rear set.

I read that you don't like peeps. Would these still work for you? Plus they will run under 120 sheckels for the set. Leave you more money for J-frame ammo.

They are simple and pretty rugged. I have them on my BCM pencil middy, and it's a very light carbine. But I wanted some that would not be "delicate".

There's a thread around here someplace that had a carbine that Grant built for Ken Hackathorn. That was my inspiration for mine. It's also my favorite carbine, out of the four I currently run.

Good stuff! But I should be clear. This is the older 30-06 Colt Bolt Rifle.

Oh, way better! Show us some pics, please!

This is going to sound wacky, but you might touch base with Ned Christiansen.

I haven't used these sights, but did eyeball them heavily for a bolt action project:

Note that there are two pages; not immediately apparent.
