    am I screwed?

5 months after I sent in my form 4 for a silencer, it was returned because of an error in the paperwork.

The error: The chief of police didn't write the words "chief of police" after his signature.

my agents name is becky. I was on the phone with her and had her pull up st. louis county police's web page. I pointed out who the chief of police was and asked her if the name under the picture matched the signature on the form. she told me the signature was hard to read. I ended up getting really frustrated and said the f-word. she got pissed and transferred me to her supervisor. i still have yet to get into contact with him as i had to leave a message.

My question is: Am i going to have to drive downtown and wait another hour in line just to get the police chief to write his title next to his name? Even if i get them the paperwork back, am i going to catch the wrath of an angry woman and have to wait another 5 months to get my silencer? I am so frustrated at this thug of a dept. giving me the run around

You can print "chief of police" yourself. All the CLEO has to do it sign. As for the rest..I would imagine you'll be fine.

It would be in your best interest to call the supervisor and explain that you were upset at the time and frustrated with the long wait only to realize that you made a minor error in proofreading and apologize.

Yes, it sucks, but all things considered you have to understand that they are also swamped and have to deal with their own bureaucracy as well.

And yes you will have to go downtown again unless you want to send it through the mail with delivery confirmation, etc....

If that was the case, I wonder why the examiner didn't do it?

They will not make any changes for you. Once you make the corrections, it usually only takes a week or two for your stamp to show up.

People who work in Administrative offices are trained that fairness isn't an issue. In fact, in Georgia a case that is appealed from an Administrative decision cannot be decided on the basis of equity.

Basically, their bosses make them treat you like crap. The process trains them to be unhelpful turds. Combine that with you blowing your top and you are probably stuck for a while.
If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.

I know that is the case. My point was yes he could probably write it in himself and no one would know. But, IF (and I may be reaching) someone did question it and then the Chief said "I don't recall signing it" and there was additional scrutiny it could be an issue.

I use a trust to avoid all the shenanigans so I don't know how big the whole thing is.

You have probably offended someone you should not have offended. This was after all your mistake for not carefully checking your forms. This woman is more than likely a decent person who is only trying to do a good job and earn a living. Maybe you need to grow up a little bit, learn some patience and a bit of respect. Maybe learn to say please and thank you instead of **** and **** you. Could be worse. She could be the judge and you could be the defendant.

Probably as stated in the below post by Redbeard. Besides that if the examiner is just looking at a signature they would have no idea what this persons official title is. Sheriff, Chief of Police etc.

I actually had the similar problem. Mine was signed in the lower "delegated authority" section and was returned for me to print in County Sheriffs Office and the name of the sheriff.

ETA: I was told by the ATF examiner that I could fill in all "print" information. I did not have to take it to be "printed" by the sheriffs office.

I'm pretty sure he's just talking about the "printed" information, not the actual CLEO signature.
