Set the safety, push out both receiver pins and try it again. You may be able to finagle the upper off the lower which will make removing the jammed case easier.

Don't worry about mangling the case. It will not go off unless the primer is given a sharp rap and the cup crushed against the anvil.

Be careful about damaging either the upper or the lower receiver

I simply have to ask what make of firearm we are discussing here. Has it been used extensively?

And what are you shooting out of it? Not that the rounds can necessarily be attributed to the failure, just trying to develop a full picture.

Missed his follow up post, my mistake. Never seen anything quite like it, have to believe it's a potential mag/feed issue, but then again maybe not. IG should have some better insight shortly.

One way I was taught to clear an over ride was to (obviously) pull the mag out and stick your social finger up into the mag well while pulling the bolt back.

Once you have the bolt pulled far enough to the rear to where you can place your finger tip on the face of the bolt, keep rearward pressure on the bolt so there is no pressure on the charging handle.

This frees up the handle so you can tap the back of the round with the front of the charging handle. Hopefully dislodging it.

A buddy and fellow member on here was at a recent carbine class and we were trying to replicate a bolt over ride. He accidentally got it so lodged in the upper we had to remove the receiver extension so we could have enough working room to clear the round.

My guess is (just a ****ing guess) is that you induced the malfunction by using the charging handle or something when letting the bolt go into battery as opposed to the bolt catch.

Or you have a defective magazine and you inserted it into the weapon, hit the base plate to ensure it was seated at which time the round popped up and then when you released the charging handle it lodged itself into the top of the upper/over the belt.

For the record, double feeds are two live rounds feeding into the chamber at the same time and it is a magazine issue, not the weapon.

What kind of steel cased ammo is that?
