    PA Micro questions

Thinking about getting a PA micro for my DDM4V5 and I want it to cowitness. Is it the version with the detachable base that uses the AP mounts?
The kill flash version does it obstruct the view much? Will a flip up cover still work with the kill flash version?
Not sure which mount I would want either looks like they have a few that cowitness.

You need to order the detachable base version to use most of the micro mounts that fit the Aimpoint, such as Daniel Defense, LaRue, KZ, etc.

The kill flash does reduce the "brightness" of the sight window some, but it is detachable and not necessary for almost all non-military uses. It does not interfere with any type of cover available on the market I'm aware of, whether attached or detached.

If you don't need the QD feature, I prefer the fixed Daniel Defense mount.

Thanks for the reply. Will the DD mount absolute cowitness with magpul mbus sights? So the version with the kill flash is the same body as the version with out? If you got the version with out could you add it later on?

It will be a lower 1/3 co-witness, which I happen to pprefer over absolute. PA has moved their diode to the 4 O'Clock position to leave a more unobstructed view through BUIS in the lower 1/3 position. LaRue has an absolute co-witness mount, but you'll pay more for the mount than the optic in this case (which isn't a bad idea, because you can use it for a real deal Aimpoint in the future if you decide to upgrade).

The KF version has a slight extension on the front of the tube for the threaded KF. It's the same OD and only adds a fraction of an inch in length to the tube and shouldn't interfere with any scope covers that are available.

Thanks its just seems the lower 1/3rd would not be necessary with flip up sights.

By PA I assume you mean primary arms. The micros all seem to be backordered but if you go to the drop down menu below the micro you want and click on ar mounts and then cross reference in the mounts section it will tell you whether the mounts are lower 1/3 or absolute.

I've got a V5. You've got a fine rifle there. I wouldn't cheap it up with a $100 site that you'll end up replacing anyway. I know since I've got a box full of the stuff that I've replaced with aimpoints, eotechs, and 1-4x24 scopes. Primary Arms makes ok stuff and Marshall is a great guy but they aren't aimpoints.

Another suggestion is that if you're running a red dot I see no need for flip up sights. I have troy flip ups on my v5 but it's because I'm running a 1-4 scope on a qd mount. With a red dot fixed sights are fine, get some good quality DD or other fixed sights and get your red dot qd mount at lower 1/3 and the fixed sights won't bother you at all.

I dont really want to put a cheaper sight on it but right now its a PA or nothing cause I cant get the aimpoint micro right now too many other things I need to buy. Specially after having a couple grand into the rifle already.

Marshall with primary arms said this is popular mount.

The American Defense mount is a decent mount. With zero mag red dots, I simply prefer running a fixed FSB and fixed rear BUIS like the Daniel Defense A 1.5. Having used both flips and fixed with RDS, I just don't see the need for the flip feature. JMO, YMMV

I like the look of the seekins precision mount I might go with that one.
