I have tried VFF, but got blisters at 10 miles. The zero drop did not bother me.

I ran hundreds of miles on Nike Free 3.0s (4mm drop) and love them - I removed the insoles as they were too small. They are not durable compared to my older Brooks, and I break them at just 300 miles or so, but still - they are so awesome I overlook that.

Now I am running in Nike Free Run Shield - I think they are 5mm drop. I love those also.

Those Nikes - need to buy them 1/2 to 1 full size larger than you normally wear.

I can't stand my older 12-14mm drop shoes now, except for normal wear - which is sad as they are in quite nice condition still.

I ran in VFF for quite a while but they would always give me blisters at anything over 3 miles. I just ordered the Brooks PureCadence. I'll let you know how those work out.

    start slow

    injuries are common...running in general

    learn good form

so far I've preferred 4mm drop, mostly concrete ( try to avoid, no choice)
