    M4 SOPMOD 2ish Project Finally done-pics (56K warning)

I took a while, and a few dollars, but here it is:

Colt M4 (6400) lower receiver group w/ Colt internals
Colt (Diemaco) M4 upper (marked properly) w/ 4140 steel charging handle from local vendor
BCM M-16 Mil-Spec MPI'ed bolt carrier (complete) w/ Colt Bolt and firing pin ect.
    Samson MFRS-C rails
LMT SOPMOD stock w/ milspec receiver extension & H2 Buffer (proper for M4A1)
    CMMG 14.7" M4A1 SOCOM barrel, 1/7 twist, chrome lined, w/ 'F' marked FSB &, A2 FH
    ARMS 40LP BUIS, & EOTech 512 rev. F w/ a GG&G Accucam QD mount
Surefire 9P mounted on a YHM offset rail mount
VFG is a CAA, but, I like the way it feels, it is sturdy as hell, and it locks up SOLID
Magpul ladder rail covers, & P-Mag w/ window
    Daniel Defense rear sling attachment
    Hogue Grip
+My proprietary sling (much like the Vickers sling)
I might get a Matech rear BUIS later...but I doubt it, and possibly a Colt R0921HB (real M4A1) barrel w/ a Sabre Defense extended A2 FH

Have you used steel CHs before? I initially thought that they might be good for the knife-hand crowd (booger-eaters though they may be ), but was concerned that it might prematurely wear the upper receiver- steel being harder than aluminum and all that.

But then again, the steel BGC runs back and forth in the aluminum upper and it takes some serious round-count to wear out an upper. But, it is not subject to the lateral pressure of a CH.

Anyway, interested in your experience with the setup.

Are you shooting sppressed or did you do the DIY gas-seal CH out of personal preference?

ETA- ARMS, CAA, GG&G, EOTech, absolute cowitness? You aren't a TOS spy are you?

That's funny. I picture the 4 geeks from the All-Tel commercial advocating this technique.

The steel CH is to reduce the chance of bending or breaking it in a rushed situation. Pat rogers & I discussed the # of times he has seen them break in carbine courses on another forum, so I decided to toughen up that link in the chain. It has a smoother surface than my Colt CH so wear isn't going to be much of an issue, and I'm hoping it will reduce the wear from the BCG's travels also.

It is an M-16 selector switch, I just ground off the center tab. So, it Safe-Fire-Fire.

that is one reason that i wont be moving back to kansas you cant have so many fun toys
They make a psychiatrist get psychoanalyzed before he can become certified, but they don't make a surgeon get cut on. Does that seem right to you?
