    Me too, I couldn't believe a saber screwed the port. Everybody screws something up sometimes though. It's worth the salvage effort.

    FWIW gas ports I've measured DD LW .625" GB seat 10.3" bbl .087". LMT 10.5" .071".

    Mine measured .082" new on my DD MK18, when I had it. It was def overgassed.

    I'd assume the reasoning for a larger port like that would be to intentionally run it with a heavier buffer so that it would run better under a harsher firing schedule, shittier conditions, worse ammo, or something, am I right?

    No can. It was still manageable, I just ran an H3 with it to counter it a little.

    Yes, of course.

    Just like the gas ports in barrels, or the Grand Canyon for that matter.
