12 ga breaching rounds, substitute for slugs???

I need some input from anyone who has experience with the 12 Ga. breachig orud, US GI issue M1030 breaching round

I have access to 00 Buck, but am having hard time getting any slugs in theater. (unless you know someone who can hook me up in RC-N) I want the ability for some more accurate longer range point target engagement than 00 buck offers. I know this is not a 200 yard gun. hell , even with slugs its a 100-125 yarder.
but since I cant get real slugs, the 12 ga breaching rounds are the next best thing. I know they are frangible, but for unarmored soft skin(you know what I mean) type targets, what should I expect performance and accuracy wise?

using a Mossberg 500, 18" cyl . waiting on an an Aimpoint T1 with Larue mount. figured that would be good with the breaching rounds for single projectile use

I don't think it would work very well. They're already powder as it is. They're really not made for long range use. No different than birdshot, each individual grain would not penetrate deeply, even at short distances. At 100 yards, I think you'd be looking at a very ineffective round - maybe even like a less-lethal beanbag round.

    Seriously!!

NO Not to be a dick but this is a terrible idea, the whole point of a breach round to to be NON lethal, using them in such manor (in theater) is a bad idea if you need to shoot someone and you use a breach round outside of 5m you might as well yell and scream to draw fire. I think it would hurt like a mother ****er but the point is not to hurt them.

If you really believe that a breaching round would be ineffective past 5m, I challenge you to stand down range.

Breaching rounds do have a role as lethal munitions in certain environments, but not as a substitute for a slug at extended range.

Just use your assigned weapon. The Amy or Marine Corps gave you a shotgun to open doors. They gave you a rifle or machine gun to engage the enemy. Let me say it again: your shotgun is a key, not a weapon. Just because it can be used that way doesn't mean you should.

I can't find it, but I know that I've seen someone shooting breaching rounds at somewhat short distances. Basically after even just a few yards they were almost harmless. The round is just powder in a plastic bag that is designed to deliver a sledge hammer like blow at point Blank range. If I remember correctly even at less than 15 yards there was no penetration in ballistic gel.

The issue will be accuracy, not penetration, these are an unstablized projectile.

You consider casting your own slugs with something like this:

Using the OO that you can already get?
