Anyone have a favorable opinion of Bushmasters hydro recoil assy?

So, i was browsing Bushmasters misc toys in the catalog that came with my new evil black thing. I found a replacement hydraulic recoil buffer that replaces the recoil spring. What do you guys think of it?

that's an enidine - it replaces the buffer; not the spring. if you search this forum, there are numberous threads mentioning it:

What do you think about the performance of the hydraulic vs. a pneumatic unit?

I generally advise against these. I have shot them, and think that while they do reduce recoil, so does a decent brake and a proper stance.

I have heard of several accounts (from credible and knowledgable users) of these breaking down under serious use, and I have witnessed the only one in a class I was in go south on day one.

Everything breaks eventually, but I would rather keep this part as uncomplicated as possible.

Thanks. I liked what I heard about the side benefit of reduced sproing, but it sounds like it's more logical to work on better hearing protection rather than altering the gun.

IMO it's a solution to a non-problem, and an unnecessary complication.

If someone can't handle the recoil of a 5.56, they should get a .22 conversion and call it a day.

These aren't about handling recoil, they are about fast and accurate follow-thru.

Does it improve the follow-thru enough to make it a worthwhile upgrade?

I run the MGI buffer and I emphatically say yes it does. It is IMO, the best way short of an ear-splitting muzzle brake to reduce muzzle movement.
