As to shying away from YHM, I'll wait to see what they say and do. I have 4 of them and I've been happy.
Okay, good on you for telling them the truth.
I don't have faith that a lot of people would be as upstanding when dealing with an item like this.

Have you inspected the barrel? Could a squib have done this after the next round pushed it through?

A squib is possible. It's harder to tell when suppressed.
How would I check the barrel now? Scope it and look for damaged rifling?

They used to be able to re-serialize a new can but the ATF no longer allows that. If they issue another can, I'm $200 and 9 months out.
You may want to double check that. I was reading some faqs the other day. I think they may be able to file a Form 2, make you a new one, and then destroy yours, I'll see if I can find the link.

ETA: Disregard... I read it wrong.

That would be a good start.

    Squib is a ridiculous idea.

For one... the gun wouldn't have cycled a follow up round correctly.

And the barrel would have burst somewhere and the amount of blowback rom such an occurance would have been obvious to the shooter.....

Like when, at a minimum, the mag was blown out of the receiver.

I guess the copper wash on the bullet jackets coated the blash chamber and turned green.

Why would suspect the mount? From my experience although the YHM mount is the ugliest looking it has one of the best mounting/ locking systems. I have never heard of any of them shooting loose. According to YHM misalignment is nearly impossible due to the two points of contact between the mount and suppressor. It doesn't even have to be completely tight to align properly. I have heard of issues with several other top end suppressors but never any with YHM. I am not saying they are the best thing out there, but they are well made.
