I don't know where you read that or what context but I have two SBR uppers that have had over 17K through them and most of it was 55 and 62gr. ammo.

IG is right, there is no issue. shorter bullets are 'easier' to stabilize.
You misread whatever source you had.

55gr is just fine stability-wise out of short barrels, provided your twist rate is 1:9 or faster.

Don't get me wrong it would be great it YHM did replace the can, but to expect it to be replaced is not smart. I would bet they would discount a new one if the OP asked.

As to fixing the can, it is sealed so working on it is nearly impossible. Also you have to remember there is no more simple replacement. You have to go through the entire process all over again and pay the stamp fee. You can have the same number stamped on another can nor can you weld a piece of your old can on and call it good.
Im not saying they should replace the can for free. I am saying it is just good business to accommodate the customer as best you can. In this situation a can "at cost" would go a long way toward gaining new customers instead of running them off as has been evidenced by some who have posted in this thread. Yes I am a business owner, and yes I do practice what I preach. Im glad the op got it sorted out by his local dealer, but that does not help YHM's rep.

You know what, I still cant find the article I read. I know it had to do with the length of the 55 gr vs. the 62 gr and up bullets. Either way, thanks for the info, learning has occurred.
