Shit, i have the same can and mount arriving any day now, and its going on a DD mk18. I had read that there are possible stabilization issues with the shorter 55 grain bullets out of short barrels. Could this be the case here?

According to YHM misalignment is nearly impossible due to the two points of contact between the mount and suppressor. It doesn't even have to be completely tight to align properly. I have heard of issues with several other top end suppressors but never any with YHM. I am not saying they are the best thing out there, but they are well made.

Because the only one's I've seen failed to impress me, just was curious. I also don't take a manufacturer's advertisements as fact.

Slight derailment for a noob question... how does one determine if a factory and/or hand load will be stable enough for suppressor use?

KAC's BulletFlight app has a utility to "predict stability" using the Miller Stability Formula. Is it just a matter of math and environmental data?

If that is the case, couldn't one weather condition result in a stable projectile but a drastic change in weather result in a baffle strike?

I should hear from them anytime.

I second... or third the Yikes.

I think the biggest problem with this is the round came out of the side and went where?

    Scary.

Ive seen strikes that take out the front cap or at the very least oval the exit hole a bit. That one is wild.

Question is. Can a suppressor company take that one, and create a new one with the same number and "send it back"? I would doubt it, but I don't think I have ever read anything on it.

    Here's the report from YHM:

Barrel, QD mount and suppressor are inline. That rules out threading concintricity and leaves loose suppressor/QD mount or bullet fragmentation.

He said that if something was loose, he could tell because baffle strikes on loose cans almost always leave distinctive marks on the threads. There were no such marks. He is 90% sure it was a bullet problem, probably jacket seperation.

They will not repair it. He did say that some people might try and repair it but he recomended against it.

    It's coming back to me.

I have to wonder if it might be possible to grind the exterior back to form and then press and weld a sleeve around the suppressor covering the hole in the tube's side. It would add a little weight, but since it looks like you're out a suppressor and stamp with no recourse, it might be worth considering.

    Why?

Worst case scenario is to cut the suppressor and tack weld the serial number portion from this suppressor on the next suppressor correct?

It would cost you the price of a new suppressor, but not cost you a tax stamp.
One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.
