    Rant on battery life

This may have been brought up but I couldn't find it. I for one am a huge fan of EOtech when it comes to HWS/Red dot sights. Use EOtech on my personal carbine and every day on foot patrols in Afghanistan. But the battery life leaves something to be desired. 600-1000 hours tops. New Aimpoints are boasting 8 years. Trijicon SRS is boasting 3. I have this hope that L3 gets the message and creates a longer lasting solution. My next red dot will be an Aimpoint, only over EOtech because of battery life. Anybody else sitting on these wishes of improvement?

I'm pretty sure you're not the first person who wishes their EoTech had a longer battery life.

Eotechs will never have the battery life of an Aimpoint because of the differences in the ways the reticles are lit in each optic. It takes more juice to light that fancy Eotech reticle than the single dot in an Aimpoint. Whether or not it's worth having the 1 MOA dot and 65 MOA circle abd giving up battery life is subjective. You could always use rechargeable.

Thanks for breaking it down for me. Just hoping for my preference to make some headway. Seems Aimpoint is untouchable in the battery life department

I'm pretty sure my old Eotech drank batteries when it was turned off.

Aimpoint uses an LED to illuminate their reticle vs Eotech using a laser which by design draws more energy to run. So with current technology it is impossible for the Eotech to have a comparable battery life.

Well aside from the auto shut-off, that's not possible.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention though

The next battery for my Aimpoint(s) hasn't been made yet.
