I think either Eotech or Aimpoint are completely competent optics. IMHO, the only compelling reason for me to buy one vs the other for my use in my applications is the fact that the Aimpoint PRO is $400 mount included. Battery life doesn't figure in for me.

What kind of batteries are you guys getting? Duracell's? No name minimum bid alkaline? Try the camera branded photo lithium battery, usually they will be the same voltage buy 2-3x the mAh of an alkaline battery.

I wish EOTechs incorporated a simple accelerometer so the sight will stay on when it has been jostled in the last 15 minutes and will turn on when it is moved. I could care less if the batteries die within a month if you are moving all the time. Most rifles sit in a safe for months on end not moving.

Never ever ever use alkaline batteries in your electronics. I have seen both aimpoints and eotechs gets destroyed by leaking alkalines. Lithium is the only way to go.

The thing for me is simply that, I can't really get an Eotech for [much] less than an Aimpoint, especially with the PRO out, so why bother?
At this point, if they were considerably less, I'd be prepared to just suck it up and live with the quirks.
But they're not, so trouble-free Aimpoints it shall be. Someday....

This is certainly an idea, but its also one more thing to go wrong in an already overly complicated device. Its neat until your accelerometer gets buggy and your optic doesn't work properly. Of course you could say this about any piece of an electronic optic. I think a simple manual switch is still the way to go thus far and maybe Aimpoint and L3 would agree with me.

Though admittedly, I think Aimpoints could do a decent fiber optic/ tritium powered RDS like Trijicon does.

This topic should have gone under an old eotech problem thread as this is old news.
