OP why KAC over LaRue or Noveske? The proprietary BCG in the KAC would be a concern for me.

If money wasn't a concern, then KAC would be all over. Great balance. I have enough saved for one, just need to find it.

Cost? What about the design flaws? It is a nice rifle but it ain't all that.

I love my SR15, I truly believe it is the epitome of the Stoner design and IMO negates the argument for an external piston design. Combine the SR15 with the Raptor Ambi charging handle and you have the ultimate lefty rifle. However as many have stated cost does drive many away, as well as KAC's proprietary enhanced parts that you cant pick up just anywhere for spares. Availability, especially now makes anything KAC hard to get.

I do not think there is a design flaw. Really my one complaint is that you have to use a special fixture to remove the barrel nut that most gunsmiths/armorers do no have.

It is my understanding that you can use a standard BCG with the SR15E3 in an emergency. Also Larue uses some proprietary parts as well. Noveske is great but that ups the cost even over KAC.

There are design flaws. Because you haven't seen them that doesnt mean they aren't there. I will say I haven't shot the SR15 so I cannot speak to it but I have shot the SR 16.

I'm not saying an SR is total garbage but for the money people are better off with Colts.

If I had the money I would buy one for the collection but that is it.

What design flaws have you seen ? Not looking to argue just curious of what you have in mind ?

    Weapon specific parts:

    Bolt
    Firing Pin
    Cam Pin

I was told the gas system is different as well. I do not know if this is true as the rails are not removable without tools and I could never check.

The bolt can be put in wrong. This leads to brass being ejected INTO the rifle not out of it. This is an end user malfunction but still everyother designer recognizes the end user can screw up so they address this in their designs. Can you put an M16 bolt in wrong? No, not if it is in spec.

The ejector pin can work loose binding up the rifle. This IS NOT an end user malfunction and nothing can really be done to prevent this. Maybe this has been addressed in newer designs but I doubt it.

The trigger is great if it is adjusted correctly but it is a pain to adjust. The malfunctions that can result from the trigger I think are only specific to the SR16. I do not know if other two stage triggers will exhibit these malfunctions because I have only used GI triggers and the Knight's.

I think the SR's are well made rifles but a well made AR is equal and in some aspects "better".

Yes the gas system is longer but this is sort of becoming the norm I believe Noveske is doing it also. But if you are talking about the cam pin going in two different ways ? This isn't possible so I don't see how you could put the bolt in the wrong way. Also you can't adjust the trigger on the SR15. Maybe these things are different on the SR16 I have never handled one of those. One thing id have to agree on its a pain having to have special tools to remove the rail.

I'd love to own a sr-15 but they are expensive and highly doubt it would be much greater if any over my BCM. I've yet to have a failure.
