I seem to recall that the SBRs used by Costa/Haley in some of the Magpul "Art of" videos were KAC guns. I could be mistaken.

They were. Costa still runs KAC 7.62 rifles in his heavy classes.

I feel my inner KAC fanboy about to burst..Carbine 1 costa runs what is now known as a block 1 sbr.(way before anyone else had it.) Carbine 2 Costa runs an sr 15 and Haley runs an sr 15 upper. Costa also showcases the block 2 sbr upper...because he had one! His uppers were marked sr 16 though.

SR15 lowers going for 2,000+ on gunbroker today!

I paid $650.00 for mine on Dec. 8th!

Back to topic: How many of you guys run Magpul BAD levers on your SR15s.

    Wouldn't that be redundant?

No, the BAD can lock the bolt open. The KAC ambi controls can only release the bolt rather than lock open in addition to release.

That said, I've never warmed up to the BAD. Right up there with the Grip Pod to me.

Only when used as a bolt release. Locking to the rear can't be done with your trigger finger without the bad lever. That being said i took mine off after running it for a year. But back to the true subject. Why i don't think I see a lot of KAC is math. Most people that I shoot with don't want to spend that much money. Yet if they added up there $800 to $1200 rifle and all the iterations of hand guards , sights , brakes , stocks and triggers....The number is higher than what you would have spent on a Kac rifle that needs much less modification to perfect imho. This is of course civilians like myself. L.E. cant justify dropping colt and neither can I.

Thanks, that's what I thought. KAC is such a stand alone entity, I wouldn't expect a "trainer" edition gun like some of the other companies. The closest you'll likely get is some kind of Magpul collaboration rifle. But that doesn't mean these guns dont have traction in the trainer community. One simply has to pay attention as KAC historically hasn't advertised that "trainer X uses our stuff". At their level, that stuff is know as hype.
