I do hear opinions that Colt makes different quality AR's, some for Walmart that are made of lower quality materials, and some of top quality materials. I hate to bring it up, but it is a concern of mine.

Everyone is going to tell you to buy their little pet gun. Larry Vickers, who has forgotten more about the m4platform then most people will ever know recommends Colt, BCM, or Daniel Defense. A lot of people want to spend extra money and get some gun with unicorn jizz coatings and dragons breath gas/piston systems. The truth is that a stock gun from those 3 companies will be the most reliable way to go.
The bottom line is...Buy a good gun and lube it generously. You'll have no issues.
All the top tier instructors say this. It's not something I am just coming up with.
Read the stickied threads, so you can start to learn what "the best choices" actually means.
Look for those here in AR GD and AR Technical marked "Knowledge Base Threads."
