This would greatly interest me since I seemed to have missed it at SHOT for some reason.
Thanks!!!

Nobody???
Well I finally got my hands on a GSG-5 today (too bad it was already sold ) and it was everything I hoped it would be. Seeing Gemtech do their thing to it is amazing!
I was actually told by one of the GSG-5's importers that:
1) I couldn't cut down the barrel because it was illegal.
2) Silencers are illegal.
3) The gun would probably blow up in my face, but to send him pictures if it didn't.
Thankfully the man was not a GSG employee, but only an employee of the company importing the weapon to the U.S.

ATI is the sole importer, right? If so, they are in Rochester, NY which means they've lost track of what any taste of freedom is like.
Hell, if you wanted to SBR the thing you could hack it off and roll with it without doing anything else.
It's 22lr for God's sake.
The guy at ATI (AmChar?) who I talked to wasn't that bad. He did say they were probably going to import limited numbers to keep demand hanging around. Kinda like a Cooper.
Now, trying to talk to the Germans about the GSG-5 (or their Sturmgewehr) was an interesting experience. They weren't interested, it seemed, in talking to anyone. "Our distributor can tell you everything you need to know." Hmm. If you're not at SHOT to tell me about your whiz bang new gun, what are you there for? I don't think the distributor will be able to answer my questions the way the manufacturer will.
Saw one at the gun club yesterday and I swear I could hear people up and down the line wanting to know more about it.
The Gemtech conversion looks interesting. I wonder if something along the lines of the big Navy FH will be coming down the pike shortly. The guy I talked to from ATI had a nifty little FH along those lines that threaded into where the barrel cover goes. With a chopped barrel it'd look pretty neat.
Apparently this thread is where the pictures above are from...
Damn, that's kinda neat.
Mike will cut and crown the barrel + the adapter (1/2X28) for about $120 or something like that.
