I think the two dot reticle would be confusing. The tiny center dot is actually pretty effective out to 300-400m by itself.

The problem I see with BDC reticles like the EXPS 3-2 is the placement of the second dot is somewhat arbitrary. Even if you know the bottom dot hits at 500m with your load how will you know when the target is that far away? There isn't a way to accurately range a target out to, say, 500m with the Eotech reticle. Since you're basically guestimating your range anyway I don't see how the second dot, zeroed to a specific range, is going to be that useful. Just my two cents.

I'd be interested to hear from someone who's used the Eotech BDC reticle extensively and how they range with it and use the bottom dot, with or without a magnifier.
I will preface this with I have never used an eotech, but if you have a know distance between the inner dot and outer ring you should be able to get some basis for range estimation. No?

ETA: after seeing that the larger ring is 65 moa that could be pretty difficult out at 500 yards.

It's supposedly 2.8 MILs between the dots so if you can use that for some quick sniper math you could get a range. 2.8 MILs is kind of weird to work with in that scenario though.

I've been leaning towards the 3-0 anyway. Going to look at a buddy's today. It's a n older one but the reticle and field of view should be about the same. The 3-4 I'd way too confusing but I was curious about the real application of the the 3-2. Yall have given some really good point on that! We'll see!

you mean the "N" battery one??? I'd stay WAY away from that....

I had one and sold it ricky-tik. the batteries are unreliable, expensive and hard to find.

the new EXPS series with 123 batt are the ONLY reason I gave Eotech a try again. I would take one of these in any configuration before I took something with a AA or N batt at even double the price...

The EXPS series takes the CR123 batteries. I looked at the 1 dot reticle today and like it a lot! I can see how the 2 dot is too much and the 4 dot is just stupid! Thanks guys! I appreciate your help!

I have an EXPS2 shipping Feb 2. If you aren't going to use NV there's no reason to get the EXPS3 that I know of.

I know. I want the tan plus I may want to use the NV at some point; for the price difference and the color, it's probably where I'll stay. Thanks. Let me know how you like it!

The hood on an EXPS is aluminum and comes off easily with a few torx bolts. I had mine refinished in Magpul FDE for $25 + shipping (flat rate box) at Alternative Firearms Coatings.

I have XPS2-2 and yes, like mentioned above. You have 2 dots for different distances without having to zero in at a longer distance if you decide to shoot farther.

I personally wouldn't recommend anymore than 2 dots because the 4 dots is just too much clustering and its not "sharp" imagine so without the 3x magnifier, those 4 dots are almost a line.
