    Stopping M193 and M855

I want a 10x12 angle cut system (either stand alone or ICW soft backers) that will stop both M193 and M855 (as this seems to be a rather rare balance).

I have read all of DocGKR's posts (VERY informative and concise) as well as many other posts on the matter.
The most common thing I see people looking for is the ability to stop multiple M193 AND M855.

What I've gathered (please correct me if I'm wrong):
    Steel won't stop M193, HDPE won't stop M855.
Some ceramic and ceramic hybrids will, but should get a yearly XRay for damage.
Some metal/HDPE hybrids will stop both and do not require yearly inspection.
I do not have any information on the protection against these rounds offered by level iii ICW plates with iiia backers.

Does anyone have a concise list of 10x12 angle cut options with prices? Needing soft backers or not is irrelevent to me.
I am on a budget and have seen the old TAP Gamma+ plates, but I'm weary of shipping old stock ceramic. Thoughts?

    Thanks M4C.

ETA: Good news, it appears no one has had issues ordering TAP Gamma+ online. Bad news, they appear to be sold out everywhere...please advise if you know otherwise.
ETA2: Found a guy selling Gammas. $325 for two. May go for a set and get some soft backers for it due to deformation in the back (as per Doc's posts). Is that a good deal? Are there better options for the price?

If you look at the hard armour thread in the stickies. At the very bottom of the thread there is a link to a test of level 3 plates.

AMI's plate in the test stopped all rounds, and only one plate was used. It stopped 193, 855, m80, and a 12 gauge slug. There was a few other rounds tested. Three rounds of all types of ammo were shot except for the slug. There was only one slug fired. The AMI stopped all rounds with only one plate.

I was looking into there plates, and i believe they have a video of there dyneema stopping multiple rounds of 855. There plates seem to be some of the best you can get, and doc recommended them in the thread. The only part of your criteria that is not met is the price. They were spend when i was looking at them.

Yeah I saw the AMI, DT855, TenH, etc.
They are all expensive and a couple contain ceramic.
My theory was kind of that if it has ceramic anyway, might as well just get a cheaper, lighter plate with those capabilities.

I can get two 10x12 TAP Gamma Plus for $325/pair right now.
Just scared to pull the trigger since I don't have x-ray capabilities.

You don't have to worry about stopping M855 or 193, because nobody can find them anywhere to buy them.

I know people dont like them but I have a pair of ar500 plates, those things are awesome. Seen some post on another forum the only round that made any noticeable groove was 762x54r.

Haha maybe that's the underground gun control. No supply.
I'm pretty stoked up on both rounds though. For now.

And AR500 is great against everything except small hot loads over 3,000 FPS.
Some regular M193 sails right through AR500. M855 won't though.

Isn't there a danger with spall using the AR500 steel plates?

Or do I have them mixed up with something else?

Yea there is, I dont want to jack this thread, there are a few threads covering it.

I use the ar500 plates for training mostly since they wont crack or break if I fall on them. I have a set of tap gamma. I am going to pick up some velocity system plates eventually.
