Brush and solvent. Wipe, and then Oil.

Pics of the pieces in question would be a little helpful

I have a FZ NiB BCG that turned black. Doesn't effect function in the slightest. If you really want it clean, soak it in Pine Sol over night and see what happens.

    Does it influence the operation?

If not, I wouldn't be worried about the color. Unless it started to have a oil sheen like hue on it or something completely out of the ordinary.

Things get black in there. It's ok. Keep shooting and drive on.

It sounds like carbon buildup but without pictures it is hard to say. Like said above, soak in solvent and scrub. If it doesn't affect function shoot on.
