I personally wouldn't do that based on what you described however without pictures of the "issue" nobody can give you the greatest advice. Gun parts get hot, get carbon buildup, wear marks, etc. solvent and scrub for now.

STL-TIGER, if you want to dispute the forum rules that you agreed to abide by, by the act of registering for membership, and re-affirm by the act of logging on, then you might want to reconsider whether another venue is better suited to your temperament.

You absolutely WILL refrain from another member CORRECTLY citing a boilerplate policy of ours, unless having the choice to keep your trap shut gets taken completely out of your hands. Slow your roll, review the forum rules, and if you see something you don't like, consider hitting Report Post PRIOR to shooting off your big mouth. Let the moderator staff moderate the forum, you just go back to coloring.

Dustind6327, you'll not want to take abrasives to anything for what amounts to what you've admitted is a purely cosmetic condition (note that I didn't say problem....it's not).

These coatings do not completely eliminate the need for lubricants, and can still exhibit some carbon build-up. You can do a lot by simply letting it soak in lube for a while before trying to wipe it off. Like, a half-hour or such. Some of the lubes that successfully manage to clean AND lubricate might speed things up (FireClean, FrogLube, Slip2000, etc.), but you could do that with synthetic motor oil + soak time.

You might consider trying non-chlorinated brake cleaner before taking a grinding surface of any type to a primary component of your gun. Solvents > abrasives.
