I've seen <=1moa groups with pretty significant consistency using quality ammo and no I'm not talking about walking the shots in at 100. Using milsurp <2moa is quite doable. Walking shots in at 600 is definitely a necessity but again totally doable with an RDS and a good spotter.

If my word isn't good enough I'm sure I've seen photographic evidence either on here or TOS where people are getting sub-MOA groups using an RDS. I don't have time (or really the inclination) to track it down but a quick google search on "sub moa groups with red dot."
With 855 or 197??? Or by "milsurp" do you mean mk318 or 262?

M855 and the like. A friend and former mod here did a 2.5 group with a 5.45 upper and russian craptastic using an aimpoint as an experiment admittedly it was a one off and hardly scientific but we were a bit surprised.

Mk262 is definitely not what I call milsurp.

Me neither... But 855 is 4 moa ammo...

to answer your question - yes, the magnifier increases the size of the dot along with the background. so it appears to stay the same size relatively

a lot of people say you can shoot a Reddot to long range accurately and you can. but it requires the right kind of target.

magnification not only allows you positive ID on targets but it allows you to shoot more accurately, and faster, at obscure targets.

I prefer an Eotech over Aimpoint to magnify because of the size of the aiming dot

I use an Eotech G22 with all of my RDS. With the Eotechs, no problem...nice crisp dot. With my 2 MOA-dot Aimpoint PRO, not bad...certainly not as crisp as the Eotech, but otherwise a completely useable red dot for my purposes out to about 100 yards. With my 4 MOA Aimpoint T-1...it magnifies the dot to an indistinct comma-shaped blob.

I'm not aware that 855 had a MOA rating. Which manufacture 855 are you talking about?

That said...no, it's not 4moa. I'm not a fan of 855/109 for accuracy purposes but the potential is certainly there for it to be ~2moa.
