    That would cost a lot.
They stated it was as predicted but without the physical test it would have just been a theory. Coincidentally, your "drop test" is just a theory because no test has been conducted.

A flash suppressor prong is just one member so it is pretty simple but true, it is just a prediction of deflection. That is why I said earlier I would not use it to determine absolute values. However since the same parameters were used for each of the two models, it is easy to have faith that the results are comparable to each other in relative terms to see which would deflect less. Plus also it is just plain obvious that a longer/thinner member will deflect more than a shorter/thicker one.

Damn it! Break something soon! Those pictures are always way cooler than computer modeling!

That wasn't my point and I realize that. My point was it is based off scientific calculus.

It is not some "black art" as an earlier poster alluded to.

Also take note, Boeing did not apply the test to an Airbus and include it in the video.

You didn't understand the concept of deflection scale on page 1. I'll leave it at that.

Which contradicts Trim2L position in the thread.

Hardly. It proves that regardless of the software conclusion a physical test still needs to be conducted...especially when you're slandering your competitors in the process.

I would not expect anyone to know how to read the image unless they have used the software. That is why I thought it was best to change the image to a more simple one.

You wouldn't have posted that if you knew how the deflection was quantified.
