ALG trigger, BAD-ASS selector, colt small parts to round out the rest. It will be about $200 +/-.

Seriously, what's wrong with establishing some semblance of a way to tell the difference between good parts and bad parts?

Shelf level doesn't translate to parts quality. Just saying.

Colt is the best. I consider ours, LMT, KAC and BCM to be second best. Everything else is further on down the list.

Out of curiosity, besides whether or not the components are within specification (ie dimensions, spring rates, etc) are there any other major differences? Components made out of different materials or anything like that?

First, it is uncommon (IMHO) to find ALL the parts to be in spec with the TDP. Then we get into machining quality, finishing quality, "feel" and reliability.

What I would do (if you couldn't find any good LPK's) is visit Brownells and buy as many of the internals from Colt as possible (less FCG): http://www.brownells.com/manufacturers/COLT/index.htm

Then buy an ALG or Geissele FCG.

That's honestly a bit surprising. From my perspective as an engineer, it seems like it shouldn't be that hard to get such relatively simple components in spec consistently. We do it in aviation with much more complex components. I guess they just don't want to spend the $$ and QC time on it.

This first ASSUMES you know what the spec is (or did the machine shop reverse engineer it off of a DPMS part).

Just like everything else in the AR world, there are different levels of quality.

You are correct. Like any gov't supplier, Colt is tight fisted with their proprietary data (as well they should be to protect their business). I should think of that automatically after all the times I've tried to get some minimal scrap of data out of Hawker-Beech or Cessna only to be told "Come back with $100k (or more)"
