    Daniel defense feed issue

I just received my DDM4 V4 and I took it out to the range and it FTF at least 40% of the time, it was so bad that it would misfeed every other round for 2 mags. I did not clean or oil it before taking it to the range, but that should not make that much of a difference. I use 3 different ammo Wolf, silver bear and golden bear, 3 different magazines, Pmag, Colt aluminum mag, and brownelle mags. had the same issue on all the ammo and magazine. Really pissed me off. I shoot the same ammo out of my Double Star and LMT , never ever had an issue with any of the others and used a variety of Magazine across the thsoe other platforms never had issues, I fact on my Double star I never oiled or cleaned it for 2500 round and it still functioned flawlessly. Anyone else had similar issues with Daniel Defense? I bought it because of their reputation for being able to stand up to the extremes and quality, this is not the case in my opinion.

I would clean it, lube it and shoot some different ammunition like Winchester Q3131A or UMC 55g ball before convincing myself there was a problem with the rifle.

I have a new V1LW and my buddy just got a V5 and both run awesome. I would call DD and ask them because that is why I bought there rifle because of there reputation and customer service. I am sure they will take care of you. Also we both cleaned and lubed our guns before we used them. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks, i thought about that too, but my issue is that I am looking for a dead reliable rifle that will work under any condition. regardless of what the environmental is, it's a battle rifle right. to me that means if it got drag through the dirt and crap and I didn't have any oil or the right ammo for it or the right mag, would I still trust my life to it. after firing over 140 rounds and I still get misfeed, and I have to go home and clean it and oil it and make sure I find the right ammo, why am I paying dollar for this rifle ? I bought it because of recommendation the Vicker torture test on Youtube and recommended by Kyle Defoor as dead reliable. I don't want a rifle that I don't know if it will fire or not when I really need it but may not have the right ammo. I mean we are in that situation right now, there is no supply of .223/556 ammo out there we get what we can, and if this thing is such a queen what's the point of having it. That's like a Navy SEAL only going into battle if the ocean is at the right temperature or the air current is just right before jumping out of an plane.

I've got a V5 and V1. I've learned that mine like a little oil to run steel ammo. I think if you clean and lube it, you'll be pleased. If not, call DD and they'll make it right.

The solution is to clean your weapon first and lubricate with good lubricant. You also need to shoot some decent ammo. Wolf and the other animals don't apply. If that fails contact Daniel Defense.

Thanks guys, I am glad that you guys are having good experience with the DD. I will contact them and see where to go.....I guess I am upset because my expectation for DD is so high....I was really looking forward to getting the gun and putting it through it's paces and know that I made the right choice and I can depend my life on it. My LMT is absolutely flawless and it will eat anything regardless of condition and my Double star so far have been the same way. I am upset because I thought DD will be at least the same way. I typically take very good care of guns, but I like to test them as well, after all bad thing usually happen in less than ideal situation and I expect that what ever is available to me will work without thinking or worrying.

My Daniel defense v7 runs fine on steel cased Russian ammo, but I keep it well lubed (I keep all my rifles well lubed). Russian ammo like this is generally underpowered too compared to brass cased 5.56 in my experience. A brand new rifles, with no lube, and underpowered Russian steel ammo seems like it might cause issues.

What kind of misfeed are you seeing? How old are your 3 mags? I know magazines are hard to come by right now, but you might try another mag too.

Edit: like I said, brand new rifle, dry with no lube, underpowered Russian steel cased ammo. I wouldn't blame the rifle

The Mags are all brand new, I just got the aluminum mags I bought a bunch just before the whole shooting thing went down, and I used the PMag that came with the Daniel Defense rifle.
