    So I will have a colt 10.3" and 11.5"....

Should I keep both or get rid of one? I see no use in keeping both if they "perform" the same. Can someone educate me? I will be running suppressed and unsuppressed but mainly suppressed...

Are you talking about just the upper halves or entire rifles? If entire rifles, I'm guessing that the 11.5" is the 6933. What's the 10.3"? Finally, I'm honestly not trying to be a smart alec here, but why didn't you ask this question before shelling out the $$$ (not that I have a lot of room to ask because I've done the same thing before, but not with an NFA item).

It's uppers only. Yes a colt 6933 and colt mk18. Well, I started out with a 6920, I Form 1 for a 11.5" and went ahead and got the 6933 upper on preorder. Once my form was approved, I sold my 6920 upper for more than I wanted so I had the extra money and I saw how sweet the mk18 looks so I went ahead and invested in it... Now I have 2.

That's why I want to know if one shoots better or what? Does one have an advantage over the other one? If not, I would just sell the 6933 upper because I like the way mk18 looks. See, I didn't know about the mk18 till after my form was approved and I had already paid in full for my 6933 upper. I'm the kind of person that if I see something I like, I will get it and worry bout everything else later. Hajahah

I was interested in the same question while looking to make my purchase. I found a prior post in M4C that helped let me see if I can find it...

Not sure where it is, but the overall consensus it seemed was the 11.5 provided better long term reliability over the 10.5.

I'm sure I'll get my i dotted as I really know nothing about the subject other than what I read there.

I would recommend a search and you'll find some good info.

I'd buy another lower and SBR it.
    2 is 1, 1 is none...

I agree on this; the way things are going and how hard parts are going for, just SBR a lower and place whichever upper you want on it. I have a Daniel Defense 10.3" barrel upper on one of my SBR's and love the way it looks/feels/handles. It is just a matter of preference, but you can't go wrong with either. The NFA thing is not only expensive but incredibly addictive

Do a search on 11.5s and 10.5s. Lots of threads on the differences between the 2. -- mainly the velocity gain for the extra inch on the 11.5 and better reliability--the latter should be a none issue for you seeing as both are of good quality. I would keep both, though, seeing as you're not in a position whereby it is necessary to give up one.

No I don't have to get rid of one but I see no use if there isn't an advantage over one. It's like having a compact 1911 and sub compact 1911. You get that extra round and slight accuracy. Sure, at longer distance it will lose velocity which means accuracy but I don't think I will be shooting any farther than 200 yards.

I see your point and agree that it would be the practical thing to do. A couple of months back, I wouldve recommended you give one up for a longer length to fill another role. Practically and functionally speaking, I see no need to have a 10.3 when the 11.5 is available, unless to fill a specific role such as a dedicated suppressed upper. The extra inch is something you dont notice at those lengths, IMHO.
Just curious... what other AR lengths do you have?
