IMHO one stamp two stamp is moot. But they said the baffle stack is accessible so that may alleviate concerns. Also lets you run a longer handguard than you could with a CQBR.

Think it's cool they will have more barrel options in 300BLK. AFAIK they've only had a heavy 16".

Paying $200 in taxes is better than $400. A savings of $200 is one third to a half an Aimpoint, or a good stockpile of mags or ammo. It could pay a chunk of training costs

I'm in the 'I don't get it' camp. I think they're forgetting who their demographic is.

The person that pays $3400 for this rifle with one stamp is not going to say 'Yeah, that last $200 is really over the top'.

    Cool rifle, though.

Most of the 300BLK's with silencer are running similar lengths with either thread mounted or QD cans installed. An AAC 9" upper with a 762SDN-6 is only an inch shorter. If they had similar barrel lengths they would be the same size, only you have to put the AAC upper on a registered lower.

If the overall length is that important, you're not going to be running a silencer as all it does it put you into 16" length. For people who want a silenced 300BLK that's still handy, and still shorter than a non-NFA 556 gun with a silencer, and only one stamp, this is right up their alley.

The mass appeal is that this is a one stamp gun. The other offerings on the market require two. I'm not sure why you do not see the benefit in that considering the length issue is a wash.

And gunslinger, why would you want a Mk18 over this? The 300BLK was designed to eclipse the performance of 5.56mm SBR's, and it succeeds in doing so. A Mk18 with the as-issued KAC can is a similar length as this upper.

This thing is only viable if you live in a communist state.

I see exactly where they were going with this. As far as complaints on length, how difficult to conceive would an LE/NFA version with a 2" shorter can built off an 8" barrel be? They've got the manufacturing capacity, and a 9" MFAR rail is do-able on a setup that's 3-4" shorter than this and sports a removable thread-on suppressor (that could be swapped with the longer version).

Johnny spelled out the market - given the length of most 7.62 cans, a 10.5" barrel plus one of those (SF 7.62M, AAC SDN-7) you're within a nickel's diameter in OAL. If you require no other 30cal suppression, and especially if you're in an SBR prohibited but Suppressor OK state, this is a pretty usable answer.

Why? Because you think everybody should be of the opinion that you just SBR the lower?

I'm not tracking. Some people may not be in to SBR's, this gets them the benefits of a 300BLK silenced SBR with out the shorty tax added on.

This isn't beneficial to me, I would rather SBR, but my father just doesn't care about that shit so this would be perfect for him. Neither of us live in a commie state, just different requirements, and this fills one of those requirements for one of us.
I'm not cool. I just do this stuff for fun.

Not arguing what you could do with $200. Arguing a sticker $3400 gun and $3600 gun is not that big a stretch. Right or wrong.

I like the idea of 1 stamp vs 2, not so much for the $200 savings but more for 1 part on NFA vs 2. Plus IIRC, you don't have to notify the ATF before moving a suppressor between states. Of course, I am in no way in the market for this thing so my opinion doesn't really count!

I agree with you on the money aspects, but the longer rail is nice, especially if you shoot suppressed the majority of the time. There isn't much rail estate on a 9" blackout
