You are correct. This has benefits beyond the extra $200 stamp. However, I think they missed the boat by using a 10" barrel vs. an 8" and I'd have opted for a shorter, fatter can. They should've released the upper first, as buying a 1 stamp drop on addition to a current 5.56 lower is where this would shine. I do think the price point is a little too high. You could buy a Noveske 8.2" 300BLKfor $2270 (which you could get on a Form 4 rather than a Form 1), and an SDN-6 for $1050, making it $120 more, but with far greater versatility, a couple inches shorter OAL and a great Noveske barrel and Flared Forged Lower.

IF, we get through the current debacle, my intent is still to get the aforementioned 8" Noveske and a Mini7, with an SR-7 down the road for better suppression. I think there are times where a lightly suppressed 300BLK with an OAL of a non-suppresssed 11.5" SBR would be VERY useful.

This effort from Daniel Defense does have promise though.

It's a great idea for people living in states such as Michigan. We can have suppresors but not SBR's. It's stupid I know but if they had one in 556 I would allready being buying it.

Pretty rifle, but I can't imagine paying that kind of money for it.... You could weld and tap a ranger 2 on a DD for less money POST stamp if you need to beat the SBR game.......

Very interesting, to say the least. I have had no plans of .300 blackout, however this does spike my curiosity.

Will have to see how the climate goes, towards that time, and the price range!

Pretty cool, but that's essentially a $1650 can

I like the way the can looks, and it being serviceable is cool. But not enough to justify it.

There is no logical reason for Daniel Defense to release this.

ARs (and directly associated parts) are impossible to find unless a manufacturer or distributor owes you several favors in the first place.

.300BLK has never been produced in bulk numbers high enough to offer a dedicated autoloading rifle in only that specific caliber.

The NFA waiting time is so long right now that the soonest anyone in their "target commercial demographic" gets one in their safe would be some time late 2118.

I feel this will make it onto several people's "If I Ever Become Ridiculously Rich" gun list three entries down from the .45 Luger...

From where I'm sitting, I gotta think; DD has been working on this for a WHILE, much longer than the current panic phase has been going on. If they already did all the R&D to bring it to market, why not release it? Its not like the AR market is getting BETTER any time soon. Keep in mind the only thing new & proprietary about the gun is the upper...which would still be legal to sell even if a '94 style AWB were reintroduced.

DD has been producing rifles at a steady rate with non-inflated pricing since the beginning of the panic, and seems to be able to do so for the foreseeable future (notwithstanding the current hold on orders until Jan 22 due to SHOT). I just got one I ordered in late December today If they are releasing a new product, based on my first-hand experience, I'd trust they are able to produce it.

Oh and DD already sells a .300blk chambered rifle and uppers, so I'd bet they are well aware of the market conditions for the round.
